a church where you truly are welcomed and wanted!

 

Visiting a church can be an intimidating experience. 

But when you come to Oakland Heights, you can relax…

 

We’re NOT perfect people ourselves

Everybody at OHBC is a work in progress.  Any good in us is only by the grace of God, but we still stand in need of His grace to help us and to enable us to grow more each and every day.  When you come, please know that you are not being evaluated by anyone.  We truly are so glad you are here and chose to visit with us.  There is no need of worrying whether or not you measure up or are going to be able to fit in, because our church family is diverse in age, background, knowledge, and experience.  So come, encounter the Lord, and allow Him to work in your heart here!

 

We’re NOT about “Religion”

Religion has done so much damage and so much harm to homes and individual’s lives over the years.  Religion imposes “man’s teachings” and “man’s philosophies” onto people which never brings about Godliness, nor any kind of true help and true change to people’s lives.  At OHBC we want the Lord to be the one working, leading, and guiding our lives.  And so we believe in helping people enter into an authentic relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself by way of salvation, and then growing in the Lord by way of discipleship.  If this is all new to you and you have never been to church before in your life, that’s ok, we would love to show you where to start!

 

We EMPHASIZE the truth in love

At OHBC, we are committed to sharing the truth of God’s Word in love to all people.  From the preaching to the teaching you will hear at OHBC, it will not be personal opinions or political preferences for the day; all that is subject to change from one day and generation to the next.  The Lord has given us and left us with His truth, that will endure and is relevant to each and every generation.  It is sufficient, and it is still what is needed in every single one of our lives.  Our heart and our desire is to strive to truly please the Lord as His church, and to simply be the greatest encouragement and friends we can to help all others do the same!
